How to Get from Bali to Gili Air

Your departure point depends on where you’re staying in Bali:

• South Bali (Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Nusa Dua): Departures from Serangan or Sanur harbors typically take around 2 to 2.5 hours to reach Gili Air. Some boats may stop at Nusa Penida en route.

• Ubud or East Bali: We recommend departing from Padang Bai Harbor, where fast boats take approximately 1.5 hours to reach Gili Air. This is also a great option for South Bali travelers who want a faster trip.

• North Bali (Amed/Tulamben): Fast boat departures from Amed are currently unavailable. Travelers from this area should head to Padang Bai for the fastest route to Gili Air.

Alternatively, travelers can fly from Bali to Lombok and take a land and sea transfer (25-minute flight, 1.5-hour car ride, and 20-minute speedboat) to Gili Air — though this option is typically more complex than a direct fast boat.

Getting from Bali Airport to Gili Air

If your flight lands in Denpasar Airport (DPS) before 08:00 AM, you can catch a morning fast boat to Gili Air from Serangan Harbour, located around 30 minutes from the airport via toll road. Expect airport customs and immigration to take 90 minutes to 2 hours.

The last boat from Bali to Gili Air departs from Padang Bai at 12:15 PM. Since travel time from the airport to Padang Bai is around 2 hours, we advise guests arriving after 07:30 AM to stay overnight in South Bali and travel to Gili Air the following morning.
